Balsa - Ochroma pyramidale
Although balsa is one of the lightest and softest timbers, it is botanically a hardwood! Grown overseas in plantations and imported into Australia, it is used mainly in model making. This material is too soft for structural use. Available in sheets, squares, blocks, rounds and triangles.
